Having a newborn photoshoot in your own home is a wonderful way to capture your beautiful tiny baby in their own environment. It means you are in the comfort of your own home so don’t have to pack baby up in those early days and head into a newborn studio where often they can take 3 or 4 hours.  I don’t use any props or lighting, just natural light.  These photoshoots are perfect gifts to give expectant parents, they’re great for baby showers or as a present for the birth of a baby. When Amy & Luke got in touch to book their newborn photoshoot, I was honoured to be able to go and capture those precious memories for them. They had welcomed their beautiful baby girl into the world just 3 weeks earlier. She is absolutely beautiful.  

When I first arrived at their house, baby was feeding. I always allow extra time for feeding and settling, I don’t give a time slot just an arrival time then we can run with it. If we need to stop for a little while to feed and change then that’s completely fine with me. Babies go at their own pace, it’s their session so I work around them. 

We did some lovely pictures downstairs in the kitchen by the large patio doors where the natural light was flooding in, then we headed up into the brand-new nursery.  I feel it is such a great location for newborn pictures as so often parents have spent so much time and effort creating a beautiful little safe space for their baby so why not showcase it as part of the newborn photoshoot.  I love the neutral colour scheme of this photoshoot.
