Looking back over my weddings from 2022 and realising I have so many stunning days to add to my blog so I have decided to start with Georgia & Jack who were married in Summer last year at the beautiful Wood Hall Hotel which is a luxury spa hotel wedding venue in Yorkshire. The venue offers a beautiful bright and light honeymoon suite as well as having additional bedrooms for wedding guests. It is available for exclusive hire so the hotel is yours for your dream wedding day with only your wedding guests allowed in the grounds and building. The house is surrounded by immaculately landscaped gardens with the addition of a rose garden which is also licensed for outdoor wedding ceremonies.
Georgia and Jack were so lucky to have the most beautiful hot summer wedding day. They opted for a part day wedding photography package so booked coverage from ceremony through to speeches. I arrived at the venue 45 minutes before to meet up with Jack and the groomsmen and popped in to say hello to the girls who were all dressed and ready when I got to them. The boys were wearing light coloured suits. The colour palette from the day was soft and neutral and with the sunshine it really felt like a destination wedding. As I arrived the boys were helping each other with button holes and having a drink on the steps of the building. They soon headed down to the gardens to the outdoor wedding ceremony area where guests were arriving and taking their seats ready.
As the music played Georgia and her bridal party headed out of the grand building and down the steps through the rose garden. Georgia was walked down the aisle by her Dad and she looked stunning in her wedding gown. Georgia and her Dad were following her bridesmaids who were dressed in delicate sage green silk dresses and came down one by one. With the beautiful sunshine, incredible surroundings, and the smell of fresh roses and lavender it really was a dream Yorkshire wedding. Georgia’s wedding bouquet was created by Yorkshire wedding florist, The Flower House in Garforth. It was a perfect mixture of pastel roses and delicate foliage.
After an emotional ceremony, the bride and groom headed back up the aisle through a well-orchestrated confetti tunnel. There was so much confetti it was amazing, I always say when it comes to confetti, the more the better. The day was relaxed, and they didn’t want anything too formal. Jack and Georgia held their drinks reception at the front of the main building, overlooking the gorgeous Yorkshire countryside with their Country house venue set as the perfect backdrop. They mingled with family and friends whilst enjoying a glass of prosecco. I am a relaxed wedding photographer; my main aim is to let my couples mix with family and friends as much as possible on the day so they too get to enjoy their wedding day. I always recommend some formal photographs with very close friends and family but where possible I do these with guests nearby so couples feel as though they have been taken away from guests as little as possible.
Towards the end of the drinks reception, we headed down into the rose gardens for couple portraits. These are done away from guests so couples can relax and enjoy 15 minutes together to take it all in and see each other, its one of the only times during the wedding day that they actually get to see each other alone and chat. I try to be as discreet as possible so a lot of the time I am on the zoom lens out of the way. With some gentle posing and direction this creates the most beautiful wedding photographs that really showcase the romance and happiness of the day.
I stayed with Jack, Georgia and their guests during speeches then discreetly headed off to leave them to enjoy their day. Even with my reduced cover wedding photography package they still got all the key moments captured and were able to relax the rest of the day away from the cameras.
